PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency Information Technology (IT) environment, this class is accountable for performing a range of information technology tasks and application development in an IT environment.\r\n
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Service/Help Support:�\r\n\r\n Responds to calls, email and personnel requests for technical support;�\r\n Tracks status of all problems and monitors open problems;�\r\n Resolves simple to moderate problems by providing support on hardware and software products;�\r\n Resolves simple to moderate technical calls from customers;�\r\n Acts as liaison between other technical staff, users and vendors regarding Help Desk and service requests;�\r\n Monitors personal computer (PC) performance;�\r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\nDesktop Services:�\r\n\r\n Diagnoses and resolves PC and simple software problems using a variety of diagnostic tools;�\r\n Uses diagnostic tools to identify hardware and/or software problems and initiates repair;�\r\n Rebuilds PCs and reconfigures user specific settings;�\r\n Installs new software releases of simple to moderate complexity;�\r\n Coordinates installation of and installs, modifies and maintains network components and PC hardware and/or software;�\r\n Assists in implementation of network and/or system hardware and software upgrades and/or enhancements;�\r\n Configures and installs terminal emulation software for host connection;�\r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\nNetwork Services:�\r\n\r\n Provides first level support for network connectivity, or related network issues for user community;�\r\n Assists with diagnoses and resolution of simple network problems;�\r\n Assists with the configuration of network components;�\r\n Resets and reinitializes devices when appropriate;�\r\n Assist in executing specific disaster recovery plans;�\r\n Provides user support and on the spot training to users;�\r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\nSoftware Development:�\r\n\r\n Prepares computer programs for solution of business problems from narrative statements, program specifications and other data as source materials;�\r\n Customizes software applications to meet user requirements;�\r\n Assists systems and application developers in analysis, design and development of information systems;�\r\n Prepares test data;�\r\n Performs system tests;�\r\n Debugs/corrects errors;�\r\n Diagnoses problems with operating systems specific to incompatibility with other applications;�\r\n Acts as liaison between other technical staff, users and vendors regarding basic application design and modification including database management systems;�\r\n Maintains and enhances existing programs;�\r\n Installs system upgrades and patches in support of application software;�\r\n Documents system changes and problem resolutions;�\r\n Participates in project planning sessions with team members to analyze requirements;�\r\n Uses programmer productivity tools;�\r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\nProduction Control:�\r\n\r\n Performs technical functions in areas of documentation control, production control, systems software and production scheduling;�\r\n Responsible for effective utilization of production control software;�\r\n Prepares production schedule for computer processing;�\r\n Analyzes and resolves production control problems related to area of involvement;�\r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years of experience in information technology (IT) operations support, programming or another IT related support area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
\r\nTwo (2) years\r\nof the General Experience must have been performing basic technical support\r\nwork in such areas as:\r\n\r\n\r\n help desk functions;�\r\n installing and maintaining basic\r\n computer hardware and software;�\r\n data communications, microcomputer support,\r\n production control or programming;�\r\n performing any closely related basic\r\n technical support function.\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE: For state employees basic technical support work is interpreted at\r\nthe level of Information Technology Technician.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
\r\n\r\n College training in management information systems, computer science or information technology related area may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.�\r\n A Master's degree in management information systems, computer science or electrical engineering may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.�\r\n For state employees two (2) years as an Information Technology Technician may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.\r\n Successful completion of an Information Technology Analyst Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\n\r\n Experience supporting and troubleshooting on‑premises and cloud applications.\r\n Experience developing solutions with Power Platform tools and SharePoint.\r\n Experience documenting or communicating technical information to users and technical teams.\r\n Experience with modernization, workflow automation or cloud‑technology projects.\r\n\r\n\r\n
