The Strategic Communications & Marketing Coordinator is a campus-based communications professional responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating integrated communications and marketing strategies that advance campus priorities. Working collaboratively with campus leadership, Institutional Advancement, and CT State’s Marketing team, the Coordinator develops engagement strategies that strengthen CT State’s reputation, support enrollment and student success initiatives, promote workforce and community partnerships, and increase awareness of campus programs, services, and achievements.
The Coordinator serves as the campus communications lead and primary liaison to CT State’s Marketing team, ensuring alignment with institutional branding, messaging, campaigns, and strategic priorities. The position combines strategic communications planning, marketing, media relations, content development, social media, executive communications, and stakeholder engagement to support both campus and statewide objectives.
This position will support CT State Manchester, Middlesex, and Asnuntuck campuses.
Responsibilities
~2 min readUnder the direction of the Campus President, a Dean or other administrator, the Campus Strategic Communications & Marketing Coordinator is accountable for developing and executing strategic communications and marketing initiatives that advance institutional priorities, strengthen stakeholder engagement, enhance campus visibility, and support enrollment, retention, workforce development, fundraising, and community outreach goals This is accomplished through effective performance in these essential duties:
- →Develop and implement strategic communications and marketing plans aligned with campus and college priorities.
- →Create and manage integrated campaigns supporting enrollment growth, student success, workforce development initiatives, fundraising efforts, community engagement, and special events.
- →Develop and distribute press releases, maintain relationships with local media, respond to media inquiries, and identify opportunities to promote campus achievements and programs. When appropriate, refer media to the CT State Director of Media & Public Relations.
- →Coordinate creation and updating of website content pertaining to the campus and implement updates through the CT State Web Services team
- →Write, edit and produce documents such as reports, programs, invitations, fact sheets, flyers or other collateral that support campus programs services and events
- →Serve as the campus communications advisor to campus leadership for events, outreach, and campus-based events and initiatives.
- →Develop written remarks for the Campus President or Institutional Advancement staff, as needed
- →Research and advise campus leadership on opportunities to promote the campus
- →Oversee campus social media accounts and create content and engagement strategy;
- →Support the development of marketing materials, publications, reports, newsletters, digital communications, and promotional collateral.
- →Coordinate photography, videography, storytelling, and content creation efforts that strengthen institutional visibility and brand awareness.
- →Support campus events, community outreach activities, donor engagement efforts, and public-facing initiatives that advance institutional goals.
- →Coordinate with freelancers, contractors or other campus coordinators.
Additional responsibilities include:
- →Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies
- →Service on assigned committees and task forces
- →Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings which may occur during evenings and weekends.

Requirements
~1 min readBachelor’s degree in an appropriately related field together with two (2) or more years of related experience; or a combination of education, experience and training which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

- Experience serving and supporting populations historically excluded and marginalized in higher education
