Cushing Terrell is seeking an Architectural Project Manager to join our Missoula office. In this role, you will provide a high level of leadership, management, and client service across a portfolio of commercial and residential projects. You will function as a trusted advisor to clients and team members, taking day-to-day responsibility for the firm’s most significant projects from initiation through closeout.

Working closely with Principals, Project Architects, Engineers, and Consultants, you will lead project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and client communication while ensuring every project is delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with Cushing Terrell’s quality standards. You will bring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution to the role, helping teams perform at their best while building long-term client relationships.

The expected salary range for this position is $85,000 to $115,000 annually.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Construction Administration, or a related field
  • 10+ years of job-related experience in architectural project management
  • Experience managing commercial or residential projects, or both
  • Current license/registration, PM certification, or equivalent in-house training
  • Strong working knowledge of Revit, Project Management Software, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Outlook
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, scheduling, contracts, and financial management
  • Working knowledge of building codes, construction practices, and design processes
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and clients
  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar project management software
  • Demonstrated track record of leading project interviews and supporting business development

Responsibilities

  • Prepare fee proposals, develop and negotiate contracts, and identify scope changes to prepare additional fee services agreements
  • Collaborate with design leaders and other disciplines to produce and manage project budgets
  • Ensure project profitability targets of 20% or higher are met or exceeded
  • Review and reassess projects weekly to maintain earned value and ensure resources are properly utilized
  • Initiate and maintain projects and opportunities in Deltek Vantagepoint
  • Develop project budgets and work plans in collaboration with Project Coordinators
  • Coordinate project billing with client accounting procedures, aligning with client needs in timing and format
  • Manage accounts receivable and support collections efforts to meet the firm’s goal of payment within 30 days of deadlines
  • Plan, communicate, and execute project deliverables and milestones with the team
  • Regularly assess client goals and ensure the team executes the project to match that vision
  • Identify and communicate to clients additional services Cushing Terrell can provide
  • Strategically allocate team effort and reorganize resources when necessary to maintain project performance
  • Manage QA/QC processes from inception through completion, including quality management, research, and follow-up
  • Schedule regular reviews with the Principal in Charge and PM leadership
  • Manage project closeout activities and lead lessons-learned discussions
  • Develop and maintain internal and external client relationships
  • Identify and develop market opportunities and may lead project interviews
  • May have supervisory responsibilities including training, assigning and directing work, reviewing performance, rewarding and disciplining team members, addressing complaints, and resolving problems
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
  • Other duties as assigned

*Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate’s years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
