Position Summary

Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, within the School of Health Professions. We seek a mission-driven, dynamic, and student-centered individual with a passion for teaching, scholarship, and service within the field of Physical Therapy education.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the Christian mission of the University and will integrate a biblical worldview into academic instruction and professional practice. All Concordia faculty are members of Christian congregations. Concordia University faculty are active scholars in their academic disciplines and participate in the life of the university via curriculum development, academic program assessment, and other activities that support student recruitment, retention, and engagement.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Program Chair and core faculty in curriculum development and review.
• Teach in content areas aligned with expertise. Preferred teaching responsibilities include acute care, cardiopulmonary, neuromuscular disorders, geriatrics, prosthetics/orthotics, integumentary, and/ or movement science content with opportunities to teach in other areas.
• Provide course coordination and assessment, including day-to-day course management
• Advise and mentor students throughout the academic program
• Participate in the CAPTE accreditation process
• Contribute to the University's scholarship expectations through peer-reviewed research and publication, grant writing and submission, or creative and scholarly achievements.
• Provide meaningful service to the university, department, and the physical therapy profession or similar profession.
• Assist with student recruitment, orientation, and retention initiatives.
• Attend departmental, school, and university-wide faculty meetings.
• Serve on university and departmental committees.
• Other duties as assigned

• Commitment to excellence in higher education teaching.
• Work independently, prioritize tasks and organize work in a busy university setting.
• Maintain a positive, service-oriented attitude with Department Chair, all faculty and students.
• Maintain proficiency in technology for student teaching and interaction including Microsoft Office, databases, and web interaction including the CUW designated learning management system.
• Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education & Experience

• A terminal academic degree (PhD or equivalent) in the discipline or a closely related field is required. Candidates who are currently completing a terminal degree, or who have been admitted may be considered. Continued employment and/or advancement may be contingent upon completion of the terminal degree within an agreed-upon timeframe.
• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from a CAPTE-accredited program required for content areas.
• ABPTS certification preferred.
• Prior successful teaching experience in higher education is preferred with knowledge of both a blended content delivery method as well as asynchronous teaching methodologies.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in physical therapy.
• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Wisconsin.
• Demonstrated ability to meet CAPTE and university scholarly output expectations.
• Service to the profession at the local, state, or national level is desired.
