SENIOR DATA ENGINEER - DATA SOLUTIONS

Work closely with business and Data teams to understand business needs, processes, source systems and data requirements, translating them into effective technical solutions

Design and build scalable data models, pipelines, transformations, reusable datasets, and data products across cloud and existing data platforms

Own detailed solution design and implementation in line with enterprise architecture standards, while embedding data quality, metadata, lineage, and automated testing into the engineering lifecycle

Take ownership of existing data assets and solutions, ensuring they are well understood, documented, maintained and sustainably managed within Cembra

Contribute to engineering standards, peer reviews, reusable solutions, and the continuous improvement of existing data products and platforms

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or a comparable field

5+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer or in a similar role delivering production solutions

Strong SQL skills and solid Python experience sufficient to build and maintain production-grade data transformations

Strong practical knowledge of data modelling and solution design, with experience in data warehouses, Lakehouse architectures, or modern cloud data platforms — particularly Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric

Proven ability to translate business requirements and complex source data into scalable, working technical solutions while collaborating directly with business and technical stakeholders

Experience with semantic layers, data products, or taking over and rationalising inherited data models

Strong communication and presentation skills in English (for collaboration with teams and management in Switzerland)

Experience in financial services or another regulated environment is an advantage
