Our client, a world leader in life sciences and biotechnology, is looking for a “Laboratory Automation Specialist” based in SSF, CA. Job Duration: Long Term Contract (Possibility of Extension) Pay Rate: $57/hr on W2 Company Benefits: Medical, Paid Sick leave, 401K Hands-on Automation Specialist to support automation of complex in vitro models (CIVMs), including organoids, spheroids, iPSC models and other 3D cell culture systems. Key Responsibilities Develop, program, test, qualify and execute automated cell culture and cellular assay workflows. Translate manual scientist-developed laboratory protocols into scalable, repeatable automated workflows. Operate, troubleshoot and maintain automated liquid handling platforms and integrated lab instruments. Work with platforms such as Hamilton, Biomek, Opentrons, BioTek and automated incubators, centrifuges, imagers and analyzers. Support automation scheduling, instrument integration and LIMS/data integration. Use Python and/or C# for automation, data processing and workflow development. Perform equipment QC, dry runs, maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure system readiness. Collaborate with scientists, data engineers, software developers and external vendors. Develop SOPs, technical documentation and troubleshooting guides; train team members on automation and Python practices. Required Qualifications PhD + 0–3 years OR Master's + 4–6 years in Biomedical/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Cell/Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Immunology, Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field. Hands-on experience automating cell culture and/or cellular assays in pharma, biotech, CRO or academia. Experience with liquid handling automation and laboratory instrumentation. Programming experience in Python and/or C#. Experience translating manual cell culture/assay processes into automated protocols. Preferred 3D cell culture, organoids, spheroids, iPSC or organ-on-chip experience. GreenButtonGo, Thermo Momentum or HiRes Cellario. LIMS integration and automated data/QC workflows. Cellular assays such as flow cytometry, viability, gene expression, high-content imaging, biomarker assays or TEER. Vendor coordination and automation troubleshooting.
