DayOne builds and operates hyperscale data centers across eight markets: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, Finland and Spain. We raised US$4.5 billion in Series C funding to keep building.

Global Engineering Reliability Authority (GERA) sits above our site operations teams and our Mission Critical Response (MCR) teams, the specialists who respond when a site hits a critical event. It runs three parallel disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, and Reliability.

GERA does not run sites day to day. It sets the standards sites run to, at regional and global level, and it is who a site calls when a problem outruns standard procedure. We are building it out across Southeast Asia now, and you would be one of the first into this discipline.

Very few engineers in this region have run liquid cooling at scale in live operation. DayOne runs the same liquid cooling technology across our sites, so a standard you set in one place applies everywhere. Your authority comes from the standards you write, not from headcount.

• Own regional operational readiness for liquid cooling: cooling distribution units (CDUs), secondary loops, manifolds, heat exchangers, leak detection, water quality, commissioning support and maintenance procedures.

• Set the maintenance strategy, risk controls and operating standards for high density cooling, including direct to chip, rear door heat exchangers and hybrid air liquid architectures.

• Write the regional liquid cooling playbook, and keep it current as the technology moves.

• Set the operating standards, maintenance practice, risk controls and performance expectations for mechanical operations across Southeast Asia.

• Take second level escalation from site operations and facilities teams on chilled water systems, computer room air handler (CRAH) and computer room air conditioner (CRAC) units, cooling towers, pumps, valves, controls and fire protection interfaces.

• Own regional mechanical standards, Basis of Design review and maintenance playbooks.

• Raise mechanical reliability through preventive and predictive maintenance, failure trend analysis, root cause investigation and corrective action tracking.

• Improve energy efficiency, power usage effectiveness (PUE), water usage, cooling capacity, redundancy and lifecycle cost without trading uptime.

• Take new capacity from commissioning and integrated systems testing through operational readiness into live operation, with cooling resilience and maintainability designed in.

• Hold original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), service providers, consultants and contractors to maintenance quality, technical compliance and safe execution in live data center environments.

• Keep mechanical work compliant with local regulation, health and safety, environmental obligations, permit to work and DayOne operational risk controls.

• Build regional depth in chilled water, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), and liquid cooling operations.

Technical skills

• A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, building services engineering, facilities engineering or a related discipline.

• 6+ years in mechanical engineering, facilities operations or critical infrastructure, with substantial time in data centers, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, industrial or other mission critical environments.

• Hands on depth in chilled water plants, cooling towers, CRAH and CRAC units, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, building management system (BMS) controls, fire protection interfaces and mechanical redundancy.

• Practical liquid cooling experience: CDUs, direct to chip, rear door heat exchangers, secondary water loops, leak detection, water treatment and operational risk management.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical failures, lead root cause analysis and put corrective actions in place that hold.

• Commissioning, integrated systems testing, operational readiness, maintenance strategy development and live site change management.

Soft skills

• Internal & External Stakeholder Management; Communicates effectively with stakeholders at all levels, translating technical or operational issues into language relevant to each audience. Builds credibility by constructively challenging internal teams and external vendors when recommendations are not supported by data, while ensuring sustainable solutions through clear written standards, knowledge transfer, and capability building rather than simply resolving immediate problems.

• Regional programs, multi-site management or technical governance across complex operations.

• Semiconductor, pharmaceutical, industrial or other mission critical backgrounds.

• Mandarin alongside English language skills.

• Previous team leadership or professional certification.

Most regional engineering roles inherit a standards manual and enforce it. This one writes it, at regional and global level.

You would work across countries and campuses alongside site operations and Mission Critical Response teams, with visibility across the estate rather than responsibility for one building. It is a technical expertise role, built so you keep contributing technically instead of moving away from the work.

GERA is new, and we would rather say so. You would join during a transformation and scaling phase, as the function is built out across new markets.
