DayOne builds and operates hyperscale data centers across eight markets: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, Finland and Spain. We raised US$4.5 billion in Series C funding to keep building. 

Global Engineering Reliability Authority (GERA) sits above our site operations teams and our Mission Critical Response (MCR) teams, the specialists who respond when a site hits a critical event. It runs three parallel disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, and Reliability.

GERA does not run sites day to day. It sets the standards sites run to, at regional and global level, and it is who a site calls when a problem outruns standard procedure. We are building it out across Southeast Asia now, and you would be one of the first into this discipline. 

About the role 

Reliability keeps equipment performing as buildings move through the defects liability period (DLP), the window after handover when the contractor still carries defect risk, and into long term operation. Once a building is through DLP, every fault is ours. 

That is where maintenance workmanship and operating parameters start showing up in the performance data. Your authority comes from the governance you build and the evidence you bring, not from headcount. 

What you will do 

Reliability governance 

• Own the reliability governance framework and the systemic risk register, with defined risk categories and matching mitigations. 

• Run operational risk assessment using Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and keep the register current against what it finds. 

• Where a permanent fix is not viable in live operation, own the containment and hold the plan that gets to permanent resolution. 

Problem management 

• Lead problem management: root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action (CAPA), and major incident review. 

• Build and maintain DayOne's Known Error Database (KEDB), so a recurring issue is solved once and closed everywhere. 

• Drive equipment vendors through component failure investigation to a root cause, not a parts swap. 

Performance and lifecycle 

• Catch deterioration before it becomes failure, tracking equipment performance including power usage effectiveness (PUE) and water usage effectiveness (WUE). 

• Raise availability through preventive, predictive and condition based maintenance, using equipment health data, alarms and failure trends. 

• Plan and run major maintenance, overhauls and cyclic replacement, and manage end of life (EOL) and end of service life (EOSL) transitions and asset refresh. 

Assets, vendors and capability 

• Maintain system specification and critical spares data using Risk Priority Number (RPN) methodology. 

• Hold internal stakeholders, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), service providers, consultants and contractors to consistent maintenance quality. 

• Build regional depth in mission critical operations. 

Requirements 

Technical skills 

• A bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, building services engineering or a related discipline. 

• 6+ years in critical infrastructure operations, with substantial time managing critical equipment, preferably in data centers. 

• A strong grasp of local and international standards on equipment maintenance scope, frequency and operating parameters, and of local regulation in operations and maintenance management. 

• Commissioning experience. 

• Track record leading complex incident response, advanced fault diagnosis and forensic root cause analysis, and driving permanent corrective action across the equipment lifecycle. 

• Experience taking equipment vendors through failure investigation. 

Soft skills 

• Stakeholder Management; Requires coordination with internal teams, OEMs, vendors, consultants, contractors, customers, and management to achieve operational objectives.  

• Critical Thinking; Needed during FMEA assessments, root cause investigations, risk evaluations, and equipment lifecycle decisions. 

• Decision Making; Prioritize risks, maintenance activities, equipment replacements, and mitigation strategies based on data and business impact. 

Language 

• English and Mandarin 

Nice to have 

• International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 50001 energy management. 

• Semiconductor, a commissioning company, or another critical infrastructure industry. 

• SCEM, GMAP, CDCS or a similar professional certification.  

• Previous team leadership.
