Responsibilities

→Perform DOT annual inspections and preventative maintenance on chemical tanker trailers
→Diagnose and repair air brake systems, ABS systems, and suspension components
→Inspect and repair tanker barrel integrity, baffles, weld seams, and structural components
→Service and repair valves, manways, gaskets, vapor recovery systems, and discharge systems
→Perform pressure/vacuum testing and leak detection
→Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems (if equipped)
→Conduct aluminum and stainless-steel welding/fabrication as needed
→Maintain proper documentation of inspections and repairs
→Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and hazmat regulations
→Maintain safe shop practices and follow OSHA guidelines

Requirements

3+ years of heavy-duty trailer or tanker mechanic experience preferred
Knowledge of DOT tanker requirements and hazmat regulations
Experience working on chemical tankers strongly preferred
Welding experience (TIG/MIG preferred for stainless/aluminum)
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in shop/outdoor environments
Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
With assistance, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
Must be able to work in confined spaces and working at heights 4-12 feet.
Must be able to fit through a 16" manway.
