Make an impact in Deakin’s Infrastructure & Digital division which is focused on enhancing the customer experience through integrating physical and digital infrastructure, projects, and services to deliver seamless, impactful solutions tailored to customer needs.
Reporting to the Program Director, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for the definition, approach, facilitation and completion of Physical Infrastructure/Construction projects. Working closely with leaders, teams and key stakeholders inside and outside the university, the Senior Project Manager builds strong relationships to ensure services and projects are delivered efficiently, effectively and within agreed timelines.
- A minimum of 8 years relevant experience in the initiation, management and delivery of property projects.
- A background and qualification in project management, construction management, architecture or consulting engineering (PMP or PRINCE2 for example)
- Direct relevant experience working as a project manager in physical infrastructure environment (specifically capital infrastructure and built environment projects plus construction project procurement and delivery methodologies). Experience working as a client-side PM in Tertiary or Government environments preferred, but not essential.
- Proven experience in setting the direction and leading the delivery of multiple medium ($5m) sized refurbishment projects simultaneously, managing varied stakeholder groups with proven ability to recognise and critically analyse stakeholder requirements, ability to facilitate discussions with senior executives, strategic partnerships and manage vendors effectively.
- Working knowledge of commonly used consultant and construction contracts and accepted administration practises relevant to the construction industry including: Building Code (NCC), Australian Standards (AS), ISO Standards, Environmental and Sustainability Standards and Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
- Experience in the governance, finance and OHS process of large organisations similar to Deakin University
- Interest and experience in developing the enterprise project management capability by coaching and mentoring junior Project Managers, sharing expertise, and serving as a positive leadership role model.
