Senior Software Engineer - Go

This position is based in Mexico City under a hybrid work model, requiring presence in the office three days a week.

This position is on the team building StrongDM, now part of Delinea—the universal access management platform that secures and audits access to databases, servers, Kubernetes clusters, and web applications. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to the architecture, design, development, and deployment of highly concurrent, distributed systems written in Go that proxy and broker secure connections at scale. You will help build the gateways, relays, and control-plane services that authenticate users, broker credentials, enforce least-privilege policy, and produce a complete audit trail—without ever exposing resource credentials to end users. We are deeply security-minded, applying Zero Trust and just-in-time access principles and verifying identities using local credentials or SSO from other providers. You will report to the team’s engineering manager.

  Participate in the architecture, design, development, testing, and maintenance of highly concurrent, distributed backend systems in Go (Golang), ensuring alignment with StrongDM’s and Delinea’s cloud and security architecture standards.

  Build, deploy, and operate the proxy data plane (gateways and relays) and control-plane services using CI/CD pipelines.

  Collaborate with architects, product managers and DevOps/SRE teams to define system roadmaps as well as design, develop, test and deploy software solutions.

  Write clean, maintainable, idiomatic and efficient code in Go, including secure network protocols and the application of cryptographic primitives (TLS/mTLS, credential brokering, and key management).

  Conduct code and design reviews, emphasizing performance, security, maintainability and quality by maintaining high development standards.

  Diagnose and resolve technical issues and software defects across distributed, multi-cloud environments, including production connectivity and performance issues.

  Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for services, APIs, and deployment processes.

  Provide technical mentorship to engineering peers and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

  Learn and apply best practices in software engineering, security and DevOps.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related technical discipline.

• 5+ years of professional experience working as a software engineer, with a focus on Go (Golang), distributed systems, and backend/network service development.

• Proficiency with concurrent and systems-level programming, including goroutines, channels, and Go’s standard networking and cryptography libraries.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, network protocols, and API design (gRPC/Protobuf and/or RESTful APIs).

• Experience with AWS (or another major cloud provider) and cloud-native deployment models.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative and structured team environment.

• Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor or support others on the team.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP).

• Experience deploying and operating distributed services using Terraform automation and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience with secure protocols, mTLS and PKI, secrets management (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault), and credential brokering.

• Familiarity with proxying database, SSH/RDP, Kubernetes, and HTTP traffic, and with building CLI or desktop client tooling.

• Understanding of Zero Trust architectures, just-in-time access, policy-as-code (e.g., Cedar), and secure software lifecycle practices.
