The practice includes data strategists, consultants, data scientists and analysts that work alongside DEPT® teams around the world across different services, from commerce, to full-funnel media, content engineering to internal operations. You will be solving some of the hardest and most challenging problems facing some of the best loved brands in the world, and doing this alongside an experienced team.
Our data practice is an integrated craft across Europe driving business impact. We combine our expertise in data architecture, analytics, and AI to deliver exceptional data-driven solutions that build lasting relationships with our clients like Footlocker, Nikon, Rituals, and Philips.
The Business Intelligence Team Lead is responsible for building and leading our BI capability across Europe and setting the standards for how we deliver it. This senior role drives the vision for our BI proposition, delivers complex client solutions, and grows the BI team to support our expanding client base. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create reporting and data products that power our clients’ marketing, ecommerce and wider business decisions.
This role requires a strong BI practitioner and strategic thinker, with proven experience in leading a team and delivering BI solutions at scale.
As part of the EMEA Data craft, you are responsible for shaping and executing our BI proposition, delivering excellence on complex client projects, and building a high-performing team of BI consultants across the region.
To be successful in this role, you combine deep BI expertise with business acumen and leadership skills. You work closely with clients to understand how their business is run, what decisions they need to make and which KPIs truly matter, and you guide the team in translating that into smart BI solutions and dashboards that people actually use. You guide decision-making on data models and tooling, establish best practices, and make sure our BI capability stays in step with where the industry is going.
An entrepreneurial spirit with a bias for action, excellent communication skills, and the ability to bridge the gap between technical solutions and business stakeholders is essential to succeed in this role.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Lead the strategic development of our BI proposition and capabilities across Europe;
- →Set standards and best practices for BI across the region: methodology, data modelling, dashboard design, documentation and reusable components;
- →Guide, coach and mentor BI consultants through development plans, feedback and performance conversations, fostering a culture of craft and curiosity;
- →Build and grow a high-performing BI team, owning hiring from defining the profile through to onboarding;
- →Serve as the senior authority on client engagements: lead discovery workshops on the most complex work, review data models and dashboard concepts, and advise clients on BI strategy, tooling and data maturity;
- →Oversee the design of reliable data integrations and data models that serve both management and specialist users;
- →Work closely with the broader Data & AI practice and with DEPT® service teams across Europe to deliver integrated solutions;
- →Support business development through BI expertise in client pitches, scoping and estimates, and identify opportunities to grow BI work within existing accounts;
- →Stay ahead of emerging tools and methodologies in the BI space, and continuously improve and automate how the team builds and runs reporting.
- Extensive experience in a data-related role (e.g. BI Consultant, Data Analyst, Data Specialist, Marketing Analyst), with a proven track record of leading complex BI initiatives;
- Strong leadership experience, with the ability to guide and develop a team of consultants;
- Deep expertise in data modelling and transformation, with strong SQL (e.g. star schemas);
- Strong experience in one or more reporting tools: PowerBI, Looker Studio, Looker, or Tableau;
- Experience with data analysis and/or data analysis tools (e.g. Python, R, SPSS);
- An understanding of marketing data (e.g. campaign performance, attribution, website tracking);
- A strong grasp of data quality and governance, and of what it takes to keep reporting reliable over time;
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts for business stakeholders and hold their own in senior client conversations;
- Strategic thinking, with the ability to develop and execute a roadmap for the BI capability;
- Proven ability to mentor and develop talent;
- Comfortable working with colleagues and clients across multiple countries and time zones;
- Experience working in an agency or consulting environment is highly advantageous.
