DEPT® is looking for a Business Analyst who owns a workstream independently. A Senior Business Analyst at DEPT leads the translation of complex business needs into actionable product and technology solutions. They'll work across clients, strategists, product managers, designers, engineers, and QA teams, to create alignment from discovery through delivery and ensure that solutions address the intended business and user outcomes, all with minimal oversight. Our business analysts move between clients, industries, and delivery models, balancing client expectations against delivery constraints while working inside multidisciplinary agency teams.
GenAI fluency is core to this role, and you'll be expected to use AI tools daily, including drafting requirements and user stories, summarizing discovery sessions, generating first-pass documentation, all while applying the judgment built through years or rigor to critically review and correct the output, rather than trusting it blindly. Additionally, a good candidate for this role should have a willingness to push the field forward, eager to create new ways of using these tools to build clarity for their teams.
- Requirements and acceptance criteria for your workstream, start to finish
- Traceability from business goals through requirements, stories, and delivered outcomes
- Stakeholder alignment on scope and expected outcomes
- UAT strategy, including scenarios, readiness criteria, and validation

- →Document Process & Gaps: Map current and future-state processes — flowcharts, personas, use cases, data mappings — and close gaps before they hit delivery.
- →Work the Team's Cadence: Follow Agile/Scrum or Kanban practices, adapting to the team's rhythm.
- →Resolve Stakeholder Conflict: Build trust-based relationships and resolve conflicting priorities directly, translating between technical and business language.
- →Define the Details: Business rules, data requirements, integrations, dependencies, and exception scenarios.
- →Mentorship: Guide junior team members on documentation standards and technique.
- Independent Ownership: 2–4 years of BA experience, with a track record of owning a workstream independently rather than assisting under a senior BA.
- Information Gathering & Documentation: Comfort running discovery and producing user stories, acceptance criteria, process diagrams, and functional specs.
- Methodology: Working knowledge of Agile and the Software Development Lifecycle.
- Tools: Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Lucidchart, Miro, FigJam, and/or Adobe Workfront.
- Platform Exposure: Familiarity with platforms like the Adobe stack (especially AEM), Salesforce (especially Commerce Cloud), and CMS platforms like Contentful or Optimizely a plus.
- Agency Experience: Comfort moving between clients, industries, and delivery models in multidisciplinary teams, while balancing client expectations against delivery constraints. Ideal candidates will have experience working in Advertising.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Clear Communication: Adjust the level of detail for executives, clients, or engineers as needed.
- Facilitation & Curiosity: Run workshops that end in decisions, not just discussion, and ask the question that gets past the stated ask to the real problem.
- Influence & Judgment: Build alignment through evidence and clear tradeoffs, and push back on unclear requirements or shaky solutions, respectfully but directly.
- Ownership & Adaptability: Flag risks early, document decisions, and stay effective when priorities or teams shift under you.
- Coaching: Give junior analysts real, actionable feedback.
- Early Risk Detection: Risks, assumptions, and dependencies surface early.
- Documentation: Decisions and changes are documented clearly.
- UAT: Validates business outcomes, not just feature completion.
- Mentorship: Junior analysts get consistent guidance and feedback.
