DMC, an employee-owned engineering consulting firm in BC, is growing, and we’re looking for a Dam Safety Engineer who’s ready to help us keep the momentum moving.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Water Resource Engineering (minimum)
- Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience
- Knowledge of Canadian Dam Safety Guidelines, Associated Technical Bulletins, and the BC Dam Safety Regulations
- Knowledge of standard computer hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software packages such as RMC-BestFit, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, FLO-2D
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in BC
- Strong technical writing, communication, and project coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision
- Previous project management experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Strong work ethic with a drive to excel and deliver high‑quality work
- Effective communicator with excellent oral and written skills
- Able to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment
- Previous experience participating in dam safety reviews
- Familiarity with the BC Extreme Flood Project guidance documents
- Familiarity with the EGBC Professional Practice Guideline Legislated Dam Safety Reviews in BC
- Familiarity with geotechnical and/or structural aspects of dam safety
- Familiarity with environmental permitting, legislation and regulations including the Riparian Area Regulation and the Water Sustainability Act
- Experience with taking projects from proposal stage through conceptual design, detailed design, and construction
- Knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and the BC Supplement to TAC Geometric Design Guide
- Business development skills
