Summer Analyst

The Los Angeles Dodgers currently have a job opportunity for Summer Analyst. This is expected to be a 3 month position with start and end dates determined by the academic calendar for the specific candidate. Following you will find a brief description of the job and application process.

The Los Angeles Dodgers Quantitative Analysis team is responsible for using data to enhance decision-making throughout Baseball Operations. They design, implement, and maintain the models used to inform decisions about player personnel, player development, and on-field strategy. Candidates providing evidence of skills such as a personal GitHub page or example of research will be given highest consideration.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Fit and evaluate predictive models of baseball
• Analyze, interpret, and communicate statistical results with appropriate nuance
• Perform ad hoc data analysis to answer urgent questions from groups within baseball operations

Basic Requirements/Qualifications: 

• Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree OR are currently enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution
• Demonstrated experience building and evaluating predictive models
• Strong coding skills in Python (preferred) or R
• Ability to communicate technical results to non-technical audiences
• Availability to live and work in Los Angeles for the duration of your internship
• Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
• Nice-to-haves:
• Experience with git/version control
• Exposure to probabilistic programming (Numpyro/PyMC/Stan)
• Exposure to deep learning frameworks (Jax/PyTorch/TensorFlow)
• Experience working with time-series, image, or video data
