We are seeking a Fabrication Team Lead (Weekend shift) to join our team and help drive our continued success. This role plays an important part in supporting our customers, strengthening our business, and contributing to the long-term growth of Douglas Dynamics.
Weekend Working Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating a range of operations in the Fabrication unit. Work may be performed in both laser and press break environments. The Lead actively supports team engagement and a total quality culture, performs designated maintenance functions, and maintains TPM records. Additionally, the role includes training and auditing shop floor associates, upholding 5S standards, and assuming full ownership of quality across all team functions.

- Assume ownership and accountability for the safety, quality, and performance of the team
- Maintain and promote a safe work environment; address safety hazards and unsafe behaviors immediately
- Train, coach, and observe Shop Floor Associates (SFAs) to ensure following to standard work
- Ensure team adherence to quality standards, product specifications, and established inspection requirements
- Maintain effective communication across all shifts and promote a single BU mindset
- Direct SFA work within the cell/BU and monitor schedule attainment throughout the shift
- Respond to Andon calls, production issues, and other shop floor needs; adjust priorities as needed
- Monitor production performance and take action to maintain established pace and production targets
- Perform production activities as a last resort when needed to maintain workflow and standard work
- Ensure recurring scheduled tasks are completed accurately and on time by self and team members
- Participate in new product launches, Kaizen events, 3P activities, and other continuous improvement initiatives as required
- Support MDI and MOS processes and provide accurate production information and feedback
- Lead by example by demonstrating behaviors aligned with company culture, goals, policies, and Winning Behaviors to achieve team goals
- Recognize individual differences and adapt leadership and coaching approaches accordingly
- Address and facilitate the resolution of employee and peer conflicts and shop floor issues
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Schedule: Sunday, Friday, and Saturday, with additional hours as required to meet business needs.
Experience and/or Training: Knowledge of basic lean concepts (DDMS), minimum one year within the organization, prior leadership experience, ability to perform multiple positions within home BU and prior background in a manufacturing setting.
Education/Experience: high school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Technology/Equipment: Microsoft Office experience
Additional Skills: Ability to train others, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions, able to report daily production, strong communication skills both written and oral, perform basic math, ability to focus on multiple priorities and ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
