The Financial Controller is responsible for managing financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, and statutory compliance for the South African legal entity. The role ensures accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information in line with IFRS and group policies. It plays a critical role in supporting strategic decision-making by providing reliable financial insights and safeguarding the financial health and compliance of the business.
Your key responsibilities
* Full ownership of the general ledger and statutory accounts, ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close in line with IFRS and group policies, including balance sheet reconciliations, provisions, accruals, and inventory valuation.
* Preparation of annual financial statements for audit and statutory submission, acting as the primary finance contact for external auditors, regulators, and internal audit teams.
* End-to-end management of South African tax compliance including Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, UIF, and SDL, ensuring full alignment with SARS legislation while partnering with Group Tax and external advisors on tax planning and disputes.
* Development and maintenance of a strong internal control environment, ensuring compliance with tax laws, labour regulations, and company policies while liaising with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
* Provision of financial insights and operational support to management for strategic decision-making, overseeing accounts payable and receivable functions, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
* Leadership and mentoring of finance team members, driving continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting, while acting as a business partner to operational and commercial teams across the organization.

You bring
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required, with a professional qualification strongly preferred, such as CA(SA), CIMA, or ACCA.
* Strong knowledge of IFRS reporting standards and solid understanding of South African tax legislation, including VAT, Income Tax, PAYE, UIF, and SDL is essential for this role.
* Minimum 3–5+ years of experience in financial management, accounting, or controlling roles, with proven exposure to financial reporting, audits, statutory compliance, and tax submissions.
* Demonstrated experience in interacting with tax authorities, preferably SARS, with the ability to manage complex tax requirements and ensure full compliance with South African regulations.
* Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems is required, along with strong Excel and financial analysis capabilities to support accurate reporting and decision-making.
* Experience in manufacturing or multinational environments is considered advantageous, with prior exposure to working within a SAP environment being highly beneficial for this role
