Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Platform Operations, Integrations, and Support: Integrate and maintain third-party API connections with DR vendors and OEM partners (e.g., EnergyHub, Itron, Salesforce, Rheem, Google Nest); provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and vendors; support system integrations and data flows across platforms; coordinate and execute controlled production changes. Assist the ECC with system deployment support and operator enablement.
- →Serve as core system owner and power user of the LMC and DR software; manage release activities across dev/training/production environments, including testing, deployments, and rollback planning. Develop, maintain, and support system logic, scripts, configurations, and internal automation/tooling (e.g., Python-based) used for demand response events, operational workflows, and data processes.
- →Operate, monitor, and maintain DR real-time system software, databases, and telecommunications infrastructure supporting the LMC system, ensuring availability, performance, and accurate execution during operationally critical periods.
- →Monitor and coordinate maintenance of the load management transmission and communications infrastructure to ensure continuous, reliable operation of the DEF load management system.

System Architecure Specialist
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer and Information Science, or other Technical/Related Degree
- Minimum 2 years of work related experience
Senior System Architecure Specialist
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer and Information Science, or other Technical/Related Degree
- Minimum 5 years of work related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Database Management, Information Systems, or related field
- Programming/scripting experience (e.g., Python, C#, C++, JavaScript) supporting operational or production systems
- Experience troubleshooting across software and infrastructure (servers, networking, databases, integrations)
- Experience supporting real-time or near real-time operational systems
- Working knowledge of database technologies (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, DB2)
- Ability to support after-hours/on-call responsibilities during critical events
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting production systems across multiple environments (dev/test/prod), including release management
- Experience building and maintaining API integrations (REST APIs, authentication, data exchange)
- Experience integrating with third-party vendor or OEM platforms (e.g., EnergyHub, Salesforce, Itron, Google Nest, Rheem)
- Experience developing internal tools, automation, or operational support applications
- Familiarity with enterprise platforms (e.g., SAP, AWS, Salesforce)
- Experience in utility operations, control systems, or grid/telecommunications platforms
- Knowledge of Demand Response, load control, or distributed energy resource (DER) systems
- Valid Driver's License
- Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees must live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility, not greater than 50 miles one way. Employees are expected to report to their assigned Duke Energy facility as required and directed by their manager, on average 3 full workdays per regular workweek.
- Occasional travel to control centers, vendor locations, and operational facilities
- Participation in after-hours/on-call support rotation
- Ability to support grid event operations and incident response
