General Manager ( Retail ) - Kano State

HIRING - General Manager, Retail Location: Kano, Nigeria Our client is a fast-growing player in Nigeria’s downstream oil and gas sector. Dedicated to driving excellence, integrity, and efficient distribution of petroleum products, they operate an expansive retail network that delivers quality fuel, lubricants, and allied services to consumers across Nigeria. The company is seeking to hire a General Manager who will take overall strategic and operational leadership of the organisation’s retail station operations across Kano and the northern territory. The successful candidate will drive revenue growth, maintain regulatory compliance, oversee station managers, optimize inventory distribution, and enforce service standards across all retail stations in the region. Key Responsibilities: Direct and manage overall retail operations across all stations in Kano, ensuring alignment with corporate growth targets and operating guidelines. Take ownership of regional sales performance, manage operational budgets, control retail expenses, and implement strategies to increase throughput (PMS, AGO, DPK, Lubricants). Monitor wet-stock movements, product pricing, dip measurements, and reconciliations to eliminate product losses, variance, or shrinkage across all stations. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Station Managers; establish uniform KPIs, enforce cash-handling controls, and minimize station downtime. Drive strict enforcement of safety, environmental compliance, and emergency protocols across all retail outlets. Manage relationships with regulatory authorities (NMDPRA, state agencies, local authorities) and local communities to ensure seamless operations and zero sanction exposure. Enforce strict brand visual identity, pump accuracy, and exceptional service delivery across all Kano branches. Requirements Key Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Accounting, or a related discipline. An MBA or Master's degree is an added advantage. Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in downstream oil and gas retail operations, with at least 4 years in a senior managerial capacity overseeing multi-station retail networks. Strong working knowledge of the Northern/Kano retail fuel market dynamics, supply routes, and local regulatory landscape. High-level strategic thinking, operational control, P&L management, wet-stock auditing, crisis management, leadership, and team building. Benefits Compensation: Negotiable
