Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, travel-ready Field Service Representative to install, calibrate, and maintain advanced inspection and gas monitoring systems across Canada, U.S and Mexico.

The ideal candidate combines electrical troubleshooting skills with mechanical aptitude, values precision, and enjoys working directly with customers and engineering teams, who is willing and able to travel 60%+ inclusive of evenings, weekends, holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and service inspection and gas monitoring systems (Analygas / NDT).
  • Perform installation, calibration, and maintenance of electrical components such as PLCs, sensors, and drives.
  • Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) at client sites.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and soldering equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and update service documentation accurately.
  • Ensure safety compliance and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Support inventory and parts tracking; assist with RMA documentation when needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support product improvements.

Travel Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel to the U.S. without visa restrictions (citizen or PR with valid documents).
  • Assignments may include weekends, evenings, statutory holidays, and extended periods away from home.
  • Global travel predominately in U.S, Mexico, and Canada.
  • Travel duration can be anywhere from 3-4 days to 2-3 weeks depending on the scope of work.
  • Frequency projected to be 60% or higher.
  • Although reasonable advance notice will be provided whenever possible, urgent customer or project requirements may result in travel being arranged with limited notice.
  • Most assignments involve independent travel. A travel partner or team may be assigned for certain projects based on the work, destination, safety requirements, and operational needs.
  • The employee must be able to work effectively with limited direct supervision while travelling and communicate promptly regarding safety, scheduling, technical, or project concerns.
  • Work at customer, construction, commissioning, or deployment sites may require approximately 8–12 hours per day during critical project periods, subject to applicable employment standards, required rest periods, and company policies.
  • International assignments may include destinations experiencing political instability, civil unrest, heightened security concerns, or proximity to areas affected by conflict.
  • All international assignments will be evaluated through the company’s travel-risk and security process. Travel will be planned with reference to Government of Canada advisories, applicable laws, insurance coverage, employee safety, and required accommodations.
  • The employee must be legally able to enter assigned destinations and maintain a valid passport. Depending on the destination, visas, vaccinations, security briefings, site-specific training, medical clearance, or other documentation may be required.

The company will arrange or reimburse approved business-travel expenses in accordance with its travel and expense policy.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in field service, electrical, or electromechanical systems.
  • Post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Technology.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and follow safety procedures.
  • Proficiency in multimeter use, soldering, and wiring small components.
  • Valid G driver’s license (required); forklift license is an asset.
  • Experience with PLC systems, sensors, and instrumentation calibration is preferred.
  • Excellent documentation, teamwork, and communication skills.

Nice-to-Have (Assets)

  • Experience working on battery, gas monitoring, or NDT systems.
  • Familiarity with automation or control panels (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
  • Ability to perform light mechanical assembly and calibration work.
  • Experience supporting analyzers or industrial gas systems preferred.

The expected wages range for this position is $25 to $30 per hour plus overtime (ranging from 0 to 18 hours a week, inclusive of travel), with final compensation determined based on skills, qualifications, and relevant experience.
