This is not a remote position. This position will be based at our Virginia Beach, VA location.
Position Summary
The Associate Software Developer supports the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications and web-based systems. This role works closely with senior developers and engineers to translate technical requirements into functional, scalable solutions while ensuring code quality, performance, and reliability. The role contributes to the academic, enrollment, and student-success systems that operate within ECPI’s regulated higher-education environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications and web solutions
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices
- Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement fixes in a timely manner
- Perform quality assurance testing for upgrades, patches, and new releases
- Assist in maintaining and improving existing systems and applications
- Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and development methodologies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and practical experience)
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of programming concepts, data structures, and software design principles
- Experience with C# and web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Basic understanding of relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server)
- Experience using modern IDEs (e.g., Visual Studio, VS Code)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience working with APIs or web services
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies
- Knowledge of UI/UX design principles
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) and responsible use practices, including prompt design, validation of generated code, and debugging assistance.
- Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git)
