Mechanical Test Engineer

Element has an opportunity for an Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision.  The engineer position must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Salary: $27- $32/hr DOE 

• →Working knowledge of laboratory safety
• →Possess a high level of expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries within the field of Mechanical Testing.
• →Possess a Bachelors of Science degree in a science or testing related field
• →Have a minimum of 2 years’ pertinent post degree engineering experience, or advanced academic/professional qualifications
• →Possesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element’s business
• →In-depth understanding of testing concepts i.e. Tensile Testing, Stress/Creep Rupture Testing, Hardness Testing, Heat Treatment, Bend Testing.
• →Communication and Leadership skills within a team environment.
• →Knowledge of Calibrations and ISO environment experience a plus.
• →Possess a strong drive for continuous improvement for both Quality and Efficiency
• →Can analyze and compile testing data from the tests performed
• →Possess strong computer skills

• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
• Have the ability to work on well-defined issues, standard and/or routine tests, without significant guidance or supervision
• Takes Initiative and, in most cases, does not need to wait for further instruction
• Able to decide on and implement appropriate testing methods and protocols
• Leads and assigns the work of others when needed
• Analytical/technical knowledge provides a marked impact on overall laboratory technical capabilities and services
• Adapt at managing job priority and work time in accordance with targets/goals set by supervisor
• Under the close guidance of advanced Engineers in the laboratory, works on well delineated technical issues including standard and routine analysis
• Defined work experience has impact on the day to day technical decisions made on timely delivery of laboratory testing services and customer support
• Recognized by colleagues within the lab as possessing strong technical knowledge.
• Has a clearly demonstrated ability to apply an array of testing techniques in a rational and practical style to help examine issues and build solutions.
