CNC Programmer & Operator - Contract

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer & Operator to program, set up, and operate C-Tek CNC milling and Okuma lathe machines. The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing precision stainless steel and mild steel components according to engineering drawings and production specifications. Responsibilities Program, set up, and operate Okuma CNC lathe machines Program, set up, and operate C-Tek CNC milling machines Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and customer requirements Manufacture precision-engineered components to specified tolerances and quality standards Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters for machining operations Perform machine setups, prove-out new programs, and conduct first-off inspections Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring equipment to ensure compliance with specifications Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issues to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency Optimise machining processes to improve productivity and reduce cycle times Complete production and quality documentation accurately Maintain machines and work areas in accordance with company housekeeping and preventative maintenance requirements Adhere to all safety, quality, and environmental procedures and standards Requirements Grade 12 Relevant trade qualification in Machining, Toolmaking, Fitting & Turning, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field would be advantageous Minimum 3 years' experience programming, setting, and operating CNC milling and lathe machines Proven experience programming and operating C-Tek CNC milling machines and Okuma CNC lathes Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, cutting parameters, and machine setup Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and tolerances Experience machining stainless steel, mild steel, and other engineering materials Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments, including verniers, micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators Experience with G-code and M-code programming would be advantageous
