Why this Role
Ready to lead projects that power connections across Canada? Dive into the thriving world of telecommunications at Encepta!
We’re seeking an experienced Telecommunications Project Lead to join our growing Data team and support the delivery of Physical Premise Count (PPC) projects across Canada.
Join our team to help deliver technical projects that build the infrastructure connecting communities nationwide. Whether you're an experienced Project Manager or an emerging Project Coordinator, you’ll find opportunities to grow, learn, and make an impact.
You’ll work at the intersection of GIS, data quality, project coordination and field operations. From supporting field teams and monitoring project progress to improving reporting, building dashboards and identifying smarter ways to work, you will play a key role in keeping projects accurate, efficient and on track.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating Physical Premise Count projects from intake through to final client delivery. Working closely with field teams, GIS specialists, project leads, software teams and clients, your responsibilities will include:
- Project Coordination: Manage daily project activities, priorities and documentation. Lead daily field-team huddles, assign work, track progress and resolve delivery issues.
- Quality Control: Review field data, maintain quality standards, identify recurring issues and provide feedback to improve accuracy and delivery.
- Process Improvement: Improve reporting, automate manual tasks and support workflow improvements with the software team.
- Training & Support: Help onboard new team members, create training materials and provide refresher training for field staff.
- GIS & Data Management: Clean, analyze and manage GIS and spreadsheet data. Maintain PPC datasets and support SQL-based data updates and analysis.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Track project progress, productivity, data quality and KPIs. Build clear dashboards and reports using GIS data, Excel and Google Sheets.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 12–18 months, you'll be:
- Coordinating PPC projects independently from intake through to client delivery
- Leading regular field-team check-ins and helping maintain clear priorities across projects
- Monitoring project progress, quality and productivity through KPIs and reporting dashboards
- Identifying data issues early and implementing practical improvements to protect delivery quality
- Building strong working relationships with field teams, internal stakeholders and clients
- Supporting the onboarding and training of new team members
- Improving workflows through automation, reporting enhancements and process changes
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 1–5 years of experience in GIS, data analysis, telecom, utilities, infrastructure, field operations or project coordination.
- Education: Diploma, degree or equivalent experience in GIS, geomatics, geography, data analysis, engineering technology, telecom, utilities or a related field.
- GIS Skills: Strong experience with ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, ArcPy, QGIS, Google Earth and Fulcrum.
- Data & Reporting: Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including formulas, pivot tables, charts, dashboards and data analysis.
- Project Delivery: Ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate people and support high-quality project delivery.
- Programming & Automation: Working knowledge of Python, ArcPy and SQL. Exposure to FME, Java, HTML or CSS is an asset.
- Communication: Confident written and verbal communicator who can lead check-ins, provide feedback and work effectively with field teams, clients and internal stakeholders.
- Industry Knowledge: Telecom, fibre, utility, municipal infrastructure or asset-management experience is highly valued. TELUS systems knowledge, including TOPPs, Jira or MyWorld, is an asset.
- Additional Assets: AutoCAD experience and a valid driver’s licence.
