Senior Warehouse Manager

STAR is seeking a dynamic leader to join our Minneapolis team as a full-time Warehouse Leader. The ideal candidate for this job will possess a collaborative spirit, a commitment to exceeding expectations, outstanding people leadership skills and demonstrated ability to seek out and drive changes that increase efficiencies.

 The Warehouse Leader will oversee the entire freight management process and ensure efficient shipments in and out of the warehouse. This role emphasizes meeting timelines and ensuring shipments meet specifications. The Warehouse Leader will also be responsible for workforce planning to ensure adequate coverage, leading the storage strategy, establishing and managing vendor relationships, and acting as the liaison between client services and the warehouse.

 The Warehouse function at STAR is responsible for shipping, receiving, fulfillment, reservations, and storage. Our warehouse team delivers on a complex series of steps and processes that require timeliness at every level in order to ensure accuracy and timely delivery. The person who will excel in this role will have experience that taps into critical thinking, problem solving, cross-functional strategy, internal collaborative relationships that focus on exceeding client expectations, and has demonstrated experience in building high-performing, dynamic teams that excel at every turn. 

Key Responsibilities:  

• Champion end-to-end freight operations, ensuring seamless coordination, visibility, and accountability across all stages of the logistics lifecycle.
• Drive operational excellence in shipment execution, setting high standards for timeliness, accuracy, and reliability.
• Establish proactive oversight of inbound and outbound flow, anticipating risks and addressing potential disruptions before they impact performance.
• Cultivate strategic partnerships with logistics providers, aligning on service expectations and continuously improving delivery outcomes.
• Lead workforce planning with a forward-looking approach, ensuring staffing models align with demand fluctuations and operational priorities.
• Continuously assess and optimize labor deployment, balancing efficiency, productivity, and team wellbeing.
• Shape and execute warehouse storage strategies that maximize efficiency, scalability, and accessibility.
• Drive optimal utilization of warehouse capacity, leveraging data and best practices to improve space management and throughput.
• Build and sustain high-impact vendor relationships, positioning the organization as a partner of choice.
• Lead contract negotiations and performance management, ensuring accountability, cost-effectiveness, and service excellence.
• Serve as the strategic liaison between client services and warehouse operations, fostering alignment, transparency, and shared success.
• Lead resolution of operational challenges, ensuring swift, thoughtful solutions that protect client experience and operational integrity.
• Model servant leadership, empowering team members through coaching, mentorship, and continuous development.
• Foster a culture of trust, accountability, and transparency, where individuals feel valued, engaged, and motivated to perform at their best.
• Inspire and lead a team of warehouse professionals, driving engagement, performance, and growth.
• Oversee end-to-end inventory strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational demands.
• Ensure rigorous inventory control and visibility, enabling accurate tracking, informed decision-making, and minimized risk.
  
  

Qualifications and Experience: 

• 10+ years of experience in warehouse management, fulfillment, and inventory management.
• Proven ability to build, lead, and evolve outstanding teams.
• Highly skilled at communicating cross-functionally with an emphasis on bringing people together, solving problems, and keeping people in the know.
• Demonstrated ability to lead the team as a Servant Leader.
• Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines at a senior leadership level.
• Excels at exceeding expectations for internal and external clients.
• Expert in creating SOPs and implementing accountability to ensure consistent compliance.
• Proficiency in warehouse management software and ERP systems.
• Experience in working with and rolling out applications and tech solutions to create efficiencies and control costs.
