NPI Engineering Co-Op

The Role:
Our site in Colorado Springs, CO - Rockrimmon is seeking an New Product Introduction Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be full-time, 6 months in duration.

• →

  Creation, maintenance, and release of manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and qualification reports.

• →

  Tracking progress of molded components through tooling, sampling, dimensional measurement, and qualification activities.

• →

  Collection, organization, and analysis of engineering and manufacturing data to support process characterization, capability assessments, and decision making.

• →

  Support of PFMEA improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve detection methods, reduce occurrence of known failure modes, and maintain accurate risk management documentation.

  Coordination and execution support for customer sample builds, including material tracking, build readiness verification, documentation, and post-build data collection.

  Working with operators and assemblers to assess the needs and filling information, equipment, and training gaps.

  Follow-up on project action items, open risks, and engineering deliverables to improve project visibility and schedule adherence.

  Assistance with continuous improvement activities, audit preparation, and other engineering tasks that arise as projects advance through development and qualification phases.

• Exposure to engineering, manufacturing, continuous improvement, or project management environments through internships, co-op programs, academic projects, or related work experience.

• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to collect, analyze, and communicate technical data effectively.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and manage multiple priorities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Must be a currently enrolled student

• Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June

• Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment, stand and walk for extended periods, occasionally lift up to 25 lbs, and comply with all facility safety and PPE requirements. Ability to use standard computer equipment and perform visual inspections of parts, equipment, and documentation.

Compensation: $20-$30/hour range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role.
