Controls Technician

The Controls Technician is responsible for testing, programming, commissioning, and servicing advanced HVAC airflow control systems used in critical environments including research laboratories, healthcare facilities, pharmaceutical spaces, and clean rooms. This role requires a strong technical background in HVAC and control systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional experience to our customers.

• →Perform job start up, checkout, and troubleshooting for new and existing airflow control & air monitoring systems.
• →Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment performance data to determine proper balancing techniques and project management approaches.
• →Install, wire, & checkout of fume hood controls.
• →Perform wiring, terminations, checkouts, and assist in system start-ups utilizing commissioning tools.
• →Oversee installation contractors and work with the construction team to ensure that the job budget/schedule is maintained or exceeded.
• →Maintain accurate project documentation, including installation records, as-built drawings, programming files, and commissioning reports. Complete paperwork on time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports.
• →Participate in job site meetings and final walk through on assigned jobs and complete all job closeout documentation and customer training.
• →Continually enforce safety to the highest standards and maintain security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.
• →Attend training courses for multiple manufacturers to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to work on the lab control & air monitoring systems.
• →Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Mechanical, electrical, or related technical degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience installing and/or servicing electronic control or HVAC equipment.
• Thorough understanding of temperature controls and HVAC systems sequence and applications.
• Programming, hardware, and troubleshooting experience with one or more Building Automation System platforms; Tridium preferred.
• Excellent critical thinking skills, self-motivation, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate clearly with customers, mechanical contractors, subcontractors, and fellow employees.
• Proven analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, manuals, electrical diagrams, and control sequences.
• Demonstrated experience in the integration of low-voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols, such as BACnet, N2, Modbus, etc. preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company.
• Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
• Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
