About Our Exciting Career Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Mortgage Loan Processor to join our lending team. The Mortgage Loan Processor will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of first mortgage and equity loans products and providing a complete loan package to underwriting.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of mortgage lending, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple loan files while maintaining a high level of accuracy and member service. The Mortgage Loan processor would be responsible for managing member relationships and providing timely support throughout the loan process, ensure compliance with lending regulations and maintain accurate loan documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a knowledgeable and responsive point of contact for members and prospective members throughout the mortgage process.
- Review loan applications and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Monitor deadlines for documentation, underwriting decisions, and closings to ensure timely completion.
- Process loan applications, verify information, and coordinate loan origination.
- Obtain, verify, and organize borrower documentation, including income, assets, employment, credit, and property information.
- Order and track required items such as appraisals, title work, insurance, credit reports, and verification documents.
- Communicate with borrowers, loan officers, underwriters, real estate agents, title companies, and other third parties throughout the loan process.
- Submit complete loan packages to underwriting and respond promptly to documentation requests and conditions.
- Review underwriting conditions and coordinate collection of required documentation.
- Maintain accurate and complete loan files in accordance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential issues or documentation gaps and escalate them appropriately.
- Provide borrowers with timely updates regarding loan status and outstanding requirements.
- Complete a final review of underwriting conditions, clears outstanding conditions, as appropriate create closing condition requirements, ensure accuracy of mortgage software system(s) for final conditions. Identifies and strives for continuous quality improvements in real estate processes and service to the members and internal customer of the credit union.
- Ensure all processing activities comply with applicable federal, state, investor, and company guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive borrower information.
In this role, you'll serve as a trusted resource for members, coordinate the many moving pieces of the mortgage process, and ensure loans are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with Credit Union, investor, and regulatory requirements.

Must have flexibility to work extended hours and to travel periodically, which may include weekends and evenings.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, college or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of three years experience as a mortgage loan processor or underwriter with a background in Conventional, Government and equity loan products.
- Working knowledge of TRID regulations and other relevant compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of mortgage loan products, processes, secondary market guidelines and regulations (conventional first mortgages, equity loans and lines of credit, FHA, USDA, FHLB, etc).
- Proficiency with mortgage origination/processing systems; Loan Product Advisor or equivalent underwriting software (AUS) and Microsoft Office products. Experience with Encompass and Corelation Keystone a plus.
- Experience with direct customer service in a financial institution preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to speak and understand multiple languages a plus.
- Position requires the ability to function independently while exercising sound judgment of lending policies and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple pipelines simultaneously and respond to changing deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to function in a financial institution and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: 10 key calculator, fax, copier, telephone, etc. Mathematical skills involving decimals, percentages and fractions etc. required.
- This position requires Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) registration under the SAFE Act of 2008. Must be able to be registered as a Mortgage Loan Originator.
