Upstate Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Care (UVES) is seeking an experienced Veterinary Nursing Supervisor to lead our Emergency nursing team in Greenville, SC. This is an opportunity for a licensed Veterinary Technician with leadership experience to oversee daily nursing operations, support team development, and help ensure high-quality patient care in a busy 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital.
As a Veterinary Nursing Supervisor, you’ll provide clinical leadership while partnering with hospital leadership to support staffing, scheduling, training, performance, and the continued growth of the nursing team.

- Overnight: Three 12-hour shifts | Thursday–Saturday | 8:00 PM–8:00 AM
- Evening: Four 10-hour shifts | Sunday–Wednesday | 8:00 PM–6:00 AM
Responsibilities
~2 min readAs the Veterinary Nursing Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Emergency nursing department while providing leadership, mentorship, and support to the Veterinary Technician and nursing team.
- →Oversee daily nursing operations to ensure efficient workflows, appropriate staffing coverage, and high-quality patient care
- →Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and clinical support to nursing leads and staff
- →Adjust staffing and departmental resources as needed to maintain patient care and team efficiency
- →Lead regular nursing team meetings to communicate updates, assign responsibilities, and gather feedback
- →Partner with hospital leadership to establish departmental goals and support hospital-wide initiatives
- →Represent the nursing team in planning and operational discussions and advocate for team needs and professional development
- →Develop and manage nursing staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage
- →Participate in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of nursing team members
- →Partner with the Nursing Trainer to develop and implement training and continuing education programs
- →Manage payroll and time-off requests while maintaining appropriate staffing coverage
- →Partner with the Nursing Manager to review performance data and support performance and compensation decisions
- →Monitor inventory and allocation of medical supplies and equipment to support clinical operations
- →Promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment
- →Address and mediate interpersonal conflicts fairly and professionally
- →Model organizational values and professional standards while supporting team accountability and growth
- →Identify opportunities to improve departmental workflows, patient care, and team performance
- →Support a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence
Requirements
~1 min read- Currently licensed as a Veterinary Technician in South Carolina or eligible to transfer an out-of-state Veterinary Technician license
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience, preferably in Emergency or Specialty Veterinary Medicine
- Minimum of 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong veterinary technical knowledge, including restraint, diagnostic imaging, phlebotomy, venipuncture, anesthesia induction and monitoring, fluid therapy, drug calculations, laboratory equipment and procedures, pharmacology, and disease processes
- Strong leadership, team management, and supervisory skills
- Experience with scheduling, staff development, performance management, and conflict resolution
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance clinical priorities with operational and team needs
- Commitment to providing high-quality patient care and supporting the professional development of Veterinary Technicians and other nursing team members
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
