Registered Veterinary Technician, Surgery & Anesthesia | $26–$35/hr

Full-Time | Five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts per week | Overtime opportunities available

$1,500 sign-on bonus for RVT candidates, with potential for up to $3,000 for RVTs with advanced anesthesia experience, pending skills assessment

Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center (ECVMC) is hiring an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery & Anesthesia team in Wilmington, NC. This is an excellent opportunity for an RVT who enjoys advanced surgery, anesthesia, and complex patient care while working alongside board-certified surgeons and an anesthesiologist.

• Full-time
• Five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts per week

• →Support surgical admissions, patient preparation, anesthesia, monitoring, and recovery
• →Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs throughout surgical procedures
• →Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement and assist with fluid therapy and medication administration
• →Maintain accurate medical records, daily charges, and surgical documentation
• →Maintain aseptic technique and ensure proper use of surgical equipment
• →Support emergency transfers and hospitalized patients
• →Coordinate patient discharges and review at-home care instructions with clients
• →Communicate effectively with clients and the veterinary medical team
• →Help ensure smooth patient flow from admission through discharge

• Current Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) status required
• Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience; surgery or anesthesia experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia induction, monitoring, drug calculations, pharmacology, and fluid therapy
• Proficiency with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, phlebotomy, diagnostic imaging, laboratory procedures, restraint, and patient monitoring
• Advanced anesthesia experience strongly preferred for consideration for the higher sign-on bonus
• Strong attention to detail and ability to remain calm and respond quickly in emergency situations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds safely
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
