POSITION STATUS: Seasonal Part-Time

POSITION SUMMARY
Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak a similar language by converting one spoken or written language to another making sure to maintain their original meaning, format and tone. Those translations will be from students in Mandarin to the instructor in English and from the instructor in English to the students in Mandarin.Translator responsibilities include reading and thoroughly understanding the context of given material, using specialized dictionaries and translation tools and proofreading finished pieces of work.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• 
  Convert courses from one language to one or more others
• 
  Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone
• 
  Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation
• 
  Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy in case of other translation needed.
• 
  Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs
• 
  Network with field experts to stay current on new translation tools and practices
• 
  Follows ethical codes that protect the confidentiality of information.
• 
  Identifies and resolve conflicts related to the meanings of words, concepts, practices, or behaviors.
• 
  Working at either our Happo One or Tsugaike mountain location, in a busy, fast paced, team environment
• 
  Assist/support administration team with any translation/interpretation needed, customer service and booking platform process support.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Due to the many variables that affect business operations, occasionally, employees may be asked to perform other duties or assist in efforts outside their primary area of responsibility, when deemed necessary. This may include performing in any subordinate position

PREREQUESITES:

• 
  Proven work experience as a Translator, Interpreter or similar role
• 
  Fluency in English in addition to your native language
• 
  Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors
• 
  Good knowledge of content editing tools
• 
  Translators must be able to comfortably and safely keep up with the group. CASI, CSIA Level 1 or equivalent 
• 
  Translators will ideally have previous snow school teaching experience
