EXP is looking for a Senior Structural Designer to join our Mining Team in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The Senior Structural Designer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services to our Mining Clients. You’ll be participating in a wide range of projects covering structural steel and concrete foundations. Activities include 3D modeling and 2D drawings for both FEL studies and the detailed engineering phase of multi-discipline small, medium and large projects.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Producing aspects of structural design and drawings in MicroStation and AutoCAD
• Assist the Director of Engineering, Structural Engineers and EITs with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule
• Undertake the detailed working drawings of steel, concrete and site plans
• Prepare conceptual layout drawings and develop construction details
• Participate in discipline drawing review process and multi-disciplinary drawing reviews
• Assist in the preparation of technical specs, reports and sketches
• Supervise and mentor junior designers and EITs in the preparation of drawings
• Perform Project Management and Construction Supervision tasks as required
• Site visits to get measurements and related information as required
• Ensure all assigned projects are carried out and delivered on budget and schedule
• Participate and assist in proposal preparations
• Work to ensure the implementation of safety and integrity principles in structural documentation
• Become familiar with EXP standards

What your experience looks like

• Minimum 10+ years Structural Design experience in mining or industrial projects
• Organized, self-motivated, pro-active, detail-oriented and have good communication skills
• Extensive Structural Steel and Reinforced Concrete 3D and 2D structural modeling and drawing software experience
• AutoCAD, MicroStation experience required
• Civil 3D and Revit experience an asset
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products
• BIM 360, Bluebeam and Navisworks experience preferred
• Good knowledge of mining industry standards, codes and guidelines
• Knowledge of mining-related processes a definite asset
• Experience on large multi-disciplinary EPCM projects preferred
• Ability to function with minimal supervision
• Experience in the use of procedures and workflows in the execution of projects
• Ability to delegate tasks and effectively supervise others
• Must be a team player and can work collaboratively with others
• Excellent problem-solving skills and critical-thinking

The salary range for this role is between $90K - $120K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
