Be our next Senior Water Resources Engineer, Mining - Independent Contractor! 

EXP is looking for a Senior Water Resources Engineer, Mining to join our Mining Team as an independent contractor and be part of an engineering team providing engineering services to our Mining Clients. The Senior Water Resources Engineer participates in projects covering hydrotechnical services. Activities include site investigations and studies and the detailed engineering phase of multi-discipline small, medium and large projects. They will be responsible for preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports.

The Senior Water Resources Engineer reports to the Vice President, Central Canada Mining under the leadership of the Director of Engineering.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Complete engineering calculations and models for assessments, including: seepage and stability, pipe and drainage ditch design, hydrology and hydraulics plans, erosion, settling of solids, alternative cover demonstrations, geochemistry, and statistics.
• Assist the Director of Engineering, Engineers and EITs with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule
• Prepare technical specifications based on input received from other disciplines
• Plan and execute field exploration programs focused on gathering data to support site investigation, studies and design activities. The work may involve soil boring and test pit logging, and well installation, development, and sampling.
• Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates
• Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologists
• Perform and document construction observation and construction quality assurance testing for Geosynthetics or Earthworks on large civil or power projects.
• Prepare interpretive reports to support the development of engineering design and construction documents.
• Develop grading plans and designs in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Assist with writing reports, cost estimating, specifications, and permit documents with senior technical advice and review.
   

• Professional Engineer license in Ontario, Manitoba, and/or Newfoundland/Labrador 
• Minimum 10+ years project engineering experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Water Resources, Geological, Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering or a similar engineering discipline.
• Willingness to work within various industries and market sectors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and time management skills, and demonstrated leadership ability.
• Flexibility to travel for extended assignments and on short notice.
• Strong work ethic - willing to do what is needed to get the job done.
• Candidate should possess a working knowledge of computers and engineering software, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Organized, self-motivated, pro-active, detail-oriented, and have good communication skills
• Sound understanding of Design Engineering codes and technical standards
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) products

The hourly range for this role is between $100 - $130. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
