Expleo is seeking a highly capable Senior Systems Engineer to support the development and evolution of complex naval air defence systems. The successful candidate will provide technical systems engineering leadership during bid, assessment and concept development phases, supporting the generation of technical solutions, requirements analysis, interface development and technical artefacts for future capability enhancements.

The role requires a broad systems engineering background, strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work across multiple work packages, supporting programme delivery in a fast-moving and evolving customer environment. The engineer will act as a technical focal point for assigned subsystems, supporting technical reviews, impact assessments, requirements analysis and interface definition activities.

Responsibilities

→Support systems engineering activities across the bidding, assessment and early lifecycle phases of defence programmes.
→Perform impact assessments to evaluate proposed system and capability changes.
→Provide technical input to bid and proposal activities, including the generation of technical artefacts and work package content.
→Support feasibility studies and concept investigations for future programme capabilities.
→Act as a subsystem technical focal point, supporting technical reviews and engineering decision-making.
→Analyse and review system requirements and associated engineering documentation.
→Contribute to the development and maintenance of system-level and munition-level technical documentation.
→Support investigation and resolution of technical queries and engineering issues.
→Contribute to safety-related engineering activities and incident resolution support.
→Generate and maintain interface definitions, interface documentation and supporting technical presentations.
→Produce technical reports, presentations and engineering evidence to support programme milestones and customer reviews.
→Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams, programme managers and customer stakeholders.

Requirements

Degree or equivalent qualification in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or another relevant STEM discipline.
Demonstrable experience working within Defence, Aerospace, Maritime or other safety-critical environments.

Strong systems engineering knowledge across the engineering lifecycle.
Requirements analysis and management.
Technical documentation and report generation.
Impact assessment and engineering change analysis.
System and subsystem integration awareness.
Interface definition and interface management.
Technical review and stakeholder engagement.
Structured problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently whilst collaborating within integrated teams.

Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards professional registration.
INCOSE Systems Engineering certification.

Delivering systems engineering activities within complex engineering programmes.
Supporting technical bids, studies and concept development activities.
Reviewing and analysing technical requirements.
Producing technical artefacts, reports and presentations.
Supporting engineering issue resolution and technical investigations.
Working directly with engineering stakeholders across multiple programme disciplines.
Experience supporting naval defence or guided weapons programmes.

Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance.
Ability to work within customer and supplier engineering environments.
Willingness to support activities at customer locations when required.
Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic programme environment with evolving priorities and stakeholder dependencies.
