About the Role
~1 min readYou'll join our centralized Risk, Analytics & Data Science (RAD) team as a Senior Manager, serving as the leader in the Finance Analytics function and help build and scale up the team. You'll work closely with Extend’s leadership team on how Extend plans, forecasts, and monitors its financial performance: the forecasting methodology we standardize on, the financial models leadership uses to make strategic decisions, and the analytical bar for the function as a whole. You'll be accountable not just for your own forecasts and models being right, but for the team's methodology and financial data being sound.
We've invested heavily in modern data infrastructure and AI tooling, and we want someone who's excited to actually use them. If you're a little bored of traditional FP&A and want the scope and influence of a senior manager with the hands-on depth of an IC at a fast-growing company, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Own the financial forecast methodology, the process, and the output. Own the driver-based models behind Extend's key financials, top-line forecast (merchant GMV, attach rates, etc.), revenue, cash balances, and margin across our product lines. Define the assumptions governance and variance-review standards that make every forecast defensible.
- Own the annual operating plan and long-range plan. Lead the annual budgeting cycle and the 3–5 year financial model, linking growth ambitions to cash and capital needs, and partner with Accounting so the plan reconciles with reported results.
- Run the performance-management cadence. Track KPIs and OKRs against plan, diagnose variances down to merchant, product, and segment level, and deliver forward-looking insights.
- Own the financial strategy conversation with senior leadership. Be the CFO's and leadership team's analytical thought partner. Communicate the business performance on a regular basis and provide valuable insights for strategic decisions.
- Turn reporting into a decision engine. Own the end to end P&L modeling and performance reporting, help drive business decisions and changes based on analytical insights from day to day reporting.
- Put the entire business operation under the Unit Economics framework. Build and maintain the unit-economics framework (true contribution margin at the contract level) and embed it in pricing, merchant deal reviews, and product investment decisions.
- Evaluate strategic initiatives and capital allocation. Build ROI and scenario/sensitivity models for new products, markets, merchant partnerships, and major investments; support fundraising, insurer/reinsurance partner economics, and M&A or corporate-development analysis as needed.
- Drive resource and headcount planning. Partner with People and department leaders on workforce and capacity plans, and track budget-vs-actual on major initiatives to flag where to reallocate.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration. Serve as the primary finance partner to Sales, Growth, Operations, Risk, Accounting, and others, representing Finance in key forums, aligning teams on shared assumptions and priorities, and turning financial insights into action across the business.
- Raise the floor for the whole team. Drive AI-native ways of working so the function produces more, faster, at a higher standard. You'll have latitude to experiment and the expectation that you will.
- 7+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, investment banking, consulting, or corporate development, with a track record of owning forecasting methodology or financial strategy, such as driver-based financial modeling, long-range planning, scenario analysis, and unit economics
- Strong analytical and data skills spanning SQL and financial modeling end to end; experience with dbt, Snowflake, Python, and BI tools is a plus
- Proven ability to synthesize complex analysis into board- and executive-level materials, ideally within Insurtech, fintech, or financial-services experience is a strong plus
- Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring senior analysts and raising a team's technical bar
- Excited and passionate about new AI tools (Claude, Gemini, etc.) and eager to learn how they can improve day-to-day efficiency
- Ability and interest in thinking beyond the finance organization, considering the challenges of other teams, and prioritizing what is best for the business holistically
- Empathy, humility, and curiosity
