Are you looking for an exceptional opportunity to join a division of pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists at a children’s hospital and heart center with a national reputation in outstanding clinical care?

Our division of cardiac anesthesia consists of 9 dedicated cardiac anesthesiologists who closely support the mission of the Ward Family Heart Center.  We provide services for approximately 300 bypass cases, 200 nonbypass CVOR cases, 600 cardiac catheterization cases, and 200 electrophysiology cases in addition to many procedures for noncardiac surgery and radiology that require cardiac anesthesia care.   We provide comprehensive anesthetic services for the full range of congenital cardiac surgery including transplants, VADs, complex single ventricle repairs, neonatal surgical emergencies, ECMO and ECPR in addition to a full range of cath and EP.  All cardiac cases are personally performed or 1:1 with a pediatric anesthesia fellow.  Supervision of cardiac patients for noncardiac surgery is rare and never required.  Home call is for cardiac patients only and is shared equally among division members.  Post-call days are generally spent supporting case starts in a utility role.

Join a friendly and highly collaborative team of pediatric anesthesiologists at Children’s Mercy Kansas City and the Ward Family Heart Center.  Candidates must be BE/BC in anesthesiology and have completed an ACGME fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology. Furthermore, candidates must have either advanced fellowship training or proven experience in pediatric congenital cardiac anesthesia.  Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the States of Missouri and Kansas. Our Department of Anesthesiology faculty provides anesthesia to 27,000 children per year at Children’s Mercy. We provide coverage in the pediatric operating rooms, procedure suites, and radiology.
