Do you envision finding a meaningful role with an inclusive and compassionate team? At Children’s Mercy, we believe in making a difference in the lives of all children and shining a light of hope to the patients and families we serve. Our employees make the difference, which is why we have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top pediatric hospital, for eleven consecutive years.

Children’s Mercy is in the heart of Kansas City – a metro abounding in cultural experiences, vibrant communities and thriving businesses. This is where our patients and families live, work and play. This is a community that has embraced our hospital and we strive to say thanks by giving back. As a leader in children’s health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.

The Department of Interventional Radiology at Children's Mercy Kansas City is seeking a full-time APRN to join our IR APRN team.

The APRN will work in collaboration with all modalities of the hospital and alongside IR physicians, anesthetists, surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to evaluate and prepare patients for IR procedures and support safe, high-quality care.

Responsibilities include pre-operative workup and history and physicals, rounding on post-operative patients, and outpatient follow-up based on patient needs. The APRN will perform procedures such as chest tube removal, drain removal, PICC removal, Tunneled/cuffed line removal, and placement/exchange of enteral access devices. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting inpatient concerns and fielding calls from parents and patients with pre- and post-procedure questions.

We are seeking a motivated provider with strong critical thinking skills and a commitment to delivering patient and family-centered care. Training and ongoing clinical support will be provided by Interventional Radiology APRNs and physicians.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses II (APRN-II) provides proficient, comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. Each APRN-II demonstrates professional leadership and participates in evidenced-based practice, quality improvement, and/or research activities, and organizational development.
