Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Lead and oversee daily food service operations across all Falk School locations
- →Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate food service managers and staff
- →Coordinate recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and staffing needs for the Food & Nutrition Services department
- →Develop and maintain compliant breakfast and lunch menus, standardized recipes, production records, nutritional analyses, meal-crediting documentation, and special-diet accommodations
- →Ensure compliance with NYSED Child Nutrition, USDA school meal programs, Department of Health requirements, and applicable food safety and sanitation standards
- →Prepare reimbursement claims, required program documentation, self-reviews, and materials for Administrative Reviews
- →Serve as Falk School's primary liaison with NYSED Child Nutrition
- →Oversee procurement, vendors, inventory, USDA commodities, purchasing, and equipment needs
- →Provide financial oversight of the food service program, including budget forecasting, account monitoring, grant expenditures, and monthly ledger review
- →Identify, apply for, and administer available grants and program funding
- →Plan and facilitate food service manager meetings and professional development
- →Coordinate food and logistical needs for school-wide events and special functions
- →Provide direct operational coverage when food service vacancies or staffing shortages cannot otherwise be filled
- →Summer session employment and additional days necessary to support department operations and preparation for the opening of the school year are required. Additional workdays will be scheduled in advance in coordination with the Superintendent or designee and compensated separately from the 10-month salary.

As the Food & Nutrition Services Coordinator, you'll lead a department that plays an important role in supporting our students and school communities every day. You'll work collaboratively with food service managers and staff, school leadership, vendors, and state partners to ensure effective, compliant, and high-quality food service across Falk School.

Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in food service management, nutrition, dietetics, hospitality/food service administration, business, or a related field preferred; associate degree with substantial directly related experience may be considered
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible food service experience, including operational management, purchasing, inventory control, budgeting, and staff supervision
- School nutrition or Child Nutrition Program experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of USDA and NYSED Child Nutrition requirements, school meal programs, menu planning, meal-pattern compliance, food safety, sanitation, procurement, and recordkeeping
- Strong leadership, supervisory, coaching, communication, organizational, analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple locations, competing priorities, regulatory deadlines, and personnel matters
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technology used for menu planning, reporting, purchasing, inventory, and program administration
- Food safety certification (such as ServSafe) preferred
