Housekeeper

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Housekeeper is responsible for planning, organizing, and developing the overall operation of the housekeeping section in accordance with food safety guidelines and cleaning regimes along with assuring the highest degree of cleanliness and suitable canteen services, to assure a professional Housekeeping function. The housekeeper has a moderate organisational impact that affects one department

Planning of Work: 

• Manage the daily activities of the Housekeeping department to include appropriate cleaning of all offices, corridors, canteen areas and all public spaces.
• Planning, organizing and directing team members to ensure the highest degree of cleanliness
• Planning, organizing and directing team members to ensure the highest canteen service.
• Determines and maintains the department work schedule used to notify staff of upcoming priorities and ensure proper preparation and staffing.

Supervision: 

• Daily supervision of the housekeeping staff, including the quality and quantity of work.
• Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards within Housekeeping department.
• Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and conduct.
• Ensures the proper maintenance of all equipment; plans for repair and/or replacement of used and damaged equipment.

Administration: 

• Purchase, re-order and maintain housekeeping supplies and inventory.
• Maintain the housekeeping budget, order and replenish stock and optimise stock levels

Freedom to Act

• Variation in work sequence and routine.

• Housekeeping Diploma or Supervisory/Leadership Diploma or equivalent

• 5 years’ experience managing a team of housekeeping employees through motivation, coaching and development
• Experience in leading others

• Advanced knowledge of Housekeeping process and procedures
• Proven experience supervising housekeeping departments of 15+ employees.
• Ability to maintain a budget
• Health and safety basic knowledge
• Computer skills incl. MSOffice
• A variable thinking capability to handle differing situations that require the identification and selection of solutions within the area of expertise as well as acquired knowledge 
• Leadership skills and technical knowhow utilised to influence and lead others
