Exhibition Preparator I-Cabinet Maker

Under direct supervision working on the Exhibitions Production team, the Exhibitions Preparator I will assist with the fabrication, assembly, installation, dismantling, and/or moving of exhibit properties.

1. →Assist with fabrication, assembly, installation, dismantling, and/or moving of exhibit properties.
2. →Clean, maintain, and repair existing exhibits and displays, as needed.
3. →Mount and dismount artifacts for exhibitions.
4. →Build prototypes, samples, and models to support exhibit development and production.
5. →Other appropriate duties as assigned.

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or Sculpture, formal training in a related field, or equivalent relevant experience is preferred.
2. At least two years of work experience in a museum, industrial shop, or fine gallery is preferred.
3. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
4. Must demonstrate manual dexterity.
5. Proficient in the safe use of shop tools, equipment, and carpentry techniques.
6. Demonstrated experience in woodworking, cabinet making, welding,fabrication, or replication techniques.

• This position involves standing and walking throughout the workday while performing exhibit-related duties.
• This position requires the completion/passing of the pulmonary function exam and respirator test (post-employment offer, prior to start date)

Receives general supervision by the Production Supervisor/Manager and Production Director.

The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Hours and Shift:

35 hours per week. Hours: 8:30am - 4:30pm with occasional before, after or weekend hours required. Typically, scheduled in advance.

Pay Range: $19.00/Hourly
