Medical Assistant

  High school diploma or equivalent required.

  Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through RQI required.

• Certification from a Medical Assistant school licensed by New York State preferred.

• Prior experience in a physician office or other healthcare/medical setting preferred.

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program may be considered in lieu of prior experience.

The Medical Assistant must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to patients across the lifespan, including adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. The position requires an understanding of growth and development and the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to age-specific patient needs.

This position involves occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Employees may reasonably anticipate contact with blood, body fluids, and tissues and are expected to follow all applicable infection prevention, safety, and exposure-control procedures.
