RN Medical/Surgical Residency Program, August 2027, Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital

Are you a new graduate Registered Nurse ready to begin your nursing career in a supportive, community-focused hospital environment?

Our New Graduate RN Residency Program – Medical/Surgical Nursing at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital is designed to provide newly licensed nurses with the education, clinical experience, mentorship, and support needed to confidently transition from nursing school into professional practice.

As part of our team, you’ll work alongside experienced nurses and healthcare professionals while developing the clinical skills necessary to care for patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions. You’ll gain valuable experience in a community hospital setting where teamwork, compassionate care, and patient safety are at the heart of everything we do.

• Comprehensive orientation and structured clinical training

• Guidance and mentorship from experienced Medical/Surgical nurses and preceptors

• Hands-on experience caring for patients with diverse medical and surgical diagnoses

• Development of assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills

• Training in medication administration, treatment planning, and patient monitoring

• Opportunities to recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions

• Experience collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals

• Ongoing support throughout your transition to independent practice

• A collaborative environment focused on professional development, teamwork, and patient safety

Eligible new graduates may qualify for our RN New Graduate Incentive Program. Financial incentives are available based on program eligibility and applicable employment commitments.

• Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing required.

• New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required upon employment/start of clinical practice.

• Newly licensed RNs and recent nursing graduates are encouraged to apply.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

• Additional certifications and clinical competencies will be completed as required during orientation and residency training.
