To plan, build, optimise and implement innovative quantitative analytical methodologies, procedures, products and advanced mathematical models that provide analytical support and interpret insights, to address business opportunities and problems and implement business strategy, with minimal guidance.

We are looking for a Data Scientist who is passionate about solving real business challenges through data, consumer research and behavioural analytics. In this role, you will work alongside leading South African corporates to uncover hidden consumer trends, identify growth opportunities and translate complex data into meaningful commercial insights.

You will combine advanced analytics with consumer understanding to answer critical business questions: Why are customers changing their behaviour? What drives loyalty and spend? Which consumer segments represent the greatest opportunity? How can businesses make better decisions based on evidence rather than assumptions?

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of data science, consumer research, strategy and client engagement.

Translate complex business challenges into analytical and consumer research questions

Uncover hidden behavioural patterns, motivations and trends within large consumer datasets

Combine data science techniques with commercial thinking to generate actionable insights

Develop analytical models that help clients understand consumer behaviour and market dynamics

Transform data into compelling stories that supports strategic decision-making

Engage with clients and stakeholders to deeply understand their business challenges

Explore new data sources, research methodologies and analytical techniques to answer difficult questions

Present findings clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical audiences

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex business problems

Challenge conventional thinking and bring fresh perspectives to client opportunities

A degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Engineering or a related quantitative field

2 to 5 years of experience in analytics, data science, consumer insights or market research

Experience working with large and complex datasets

Experience using SAS, SQL, Python, R or similar analytical tools

Experience using Power BI or similar dashboarding and visualisation tools

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

An interest in consumer behaviour, behavioural economics and market dynamics

The ability to connect analytical outputs to real commercial outcomes

Strong communication and storytelling skills

Some of South Africa's richest consumer spending datasets
