Staff Accountant | US Accounting

Meztal is looking for an experienced accounting professional to join our team in a mid-level capacity. This position is responsible for supporting and executing full-cycle accounting activities while maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring accounting processes are completed accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Public Accounting, approximately four or more years of relevant professional accounting experience after graduation, hands-on full-cycle accounting experience, and the ability to work effectively with U.S.-based teams and stakeholders in an English-speaking business environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute full-cycle accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records.
• Perform account and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and complete necessary adjustments.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and maintain supporting schedules, accounting records, and financial documentation.
• Assist with the preparation and review of financial reports and related accounting information.
• Review accounting transactions for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with U.S.-based teams and stakeholders regarding accounting activities, requests, and deliverables.
• Maintain organized and accurate accounting records while following established accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Support additional accounting and financial reporting activities as required by the position.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Public Accounting (Contaduría Pública) is required.
• Professional degree certificate (Título Profesional) is required.
• Valid Cédula Profesional is required.

Experience

• Approximately 4+ years of relevant professional accounting experience after graduation.
• Proven hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting.
• Proven experience working with U.S.-based teams or stakeholders.
• Experience supporting general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, and financial reporting activities.

Language

• Advanced English proficiency, both written and verbal.
