Finance & AccountingAccountant

The Senior Accountant is a key contributor within FloQast's Finance team, responsible for supporting a broad range of corporate accounting functions including general ledger management, monthly close activities, commission accounting, and internal-use software development cost accounting. This role operates in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS environment and plays an important part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial statements in accordance with US GAAP. The ideal candidate brings solid technical accounting skills, strong organizational ability, a continuous improvement mindset, and the drive to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative, dynamic environment.

This role reports directly to the Accounting Manager and does not have direct reports. The Senior Accountant will partner closely with the Accounting Manager and Director of Revenue on complex accounting matters and support the accurate and timely execution of key accounting processes.  This is a great opportunity for a well-rounded accountant who is eager to grow alongside a company that builds the tools the accounting profession relies on.

This is a hybrid role. The Senior Accountant is required to work in FloQast's San Jose, California office a minimum of 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday).

  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring balances are accurate, well-supported, and consistent with US GAAP.
  • Partner with the Accounting Manager on the accounting for internal-use software development costs in accordance with ASC 350-40 (Intangibles — Goodwill and Other — Internal-Use Software), including tracking capitalized development costs, amortization schedules, and impairment assessments at the project level.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Revenue on the accounting for commissions and other costs to obtain customer contracts pursuant to ASC 340-40 (Other Assets and Deferred Costs — Contracts with Customers), including computation of capitalized contract acquisition costs, amortization, and the related rollforward.
  • Utilize NetSuite to prepare and maintain workpapers, schedules, and account activity in support of financial reporting and audit readiness.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Perform variance and trend analysis to identify and explain significant changes in account balances; escalate issues and propose resolutions as appropriate.
  • Assist with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of internal controls, including documentation of key control procedures and support for SOX compliance objectives.
  • Prepare schedules, support materials, and responses to requests from external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation, including leveraging AI-powered tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy across accounting workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Finance, Legal, HR, and People Operations on accounting-related matters and special projects.
  • Leverage FloQast's own platform to manage close checklists, reconciliations, and workflow — contributing real-world product feedback in the process.
  • Prepare monthly accruals across a broad range of expense categories including legal, consulting, T&E, marketing, payroll-related, and tax liabilities.
  • Perform and manage monthly operating expense (OPEX) allocations across departments, cost centers, and entities, ensuring expenses are accurately allocated, supported, and recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting guidelines.
  • Maintain allocation methodologies and supporting schedules, investigate variances, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate month-end close.
  • Manage sales tax compliance activities including Avalara nexus reporting, accruals, and coordination
  • Manage the corporate credit card program, including monthly reconciliation of all card platforms (JPMorgan Chase, NAB, HSBC, City National Bank, and Ramp), ensuring timely coding, proper documentation, and adherence to the Corporate Credit Card Policy.
  • Administer lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842 (Leases), including maintaining the lease schedule, recording right-of-use assets and lease liabilities, preparing monthly journal entries, and supporting audit requests related to lease obligations.
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned to help the company meet its goals.
  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including demonstrated experience in the monthly financial close cycle.
  • Strong Excel skills required; ability to build and maintain detailed workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting schedules independently.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of US GAAP, including the ability to research technical accounting issues and clearly document conclusions.
  • Superior organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively with both accounting and non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience in the SaaS or software industry, including familiarity with subscription revenue models and related accounting nuances.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a continual improvement mindset.
  •
  • Experience working in a public company environment or in public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm), providing a strong foundation in financial reporting standards, internal controls, and audit readiness.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite, including general ledger, financial reporting, and related modules.
