Electrician

Florida Institute of Technology is a growing, top-ranked university with more than 2 million square feet of facilities supporting a dynamic campus community. The Electrician performs skilled electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair across the university’s facilities and infrastructure. This position helps ensure electrical systems and equipment operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards. Key responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance, responding to service requests and emergency situations, and supporting electrical projects, renovations, and facility improvements. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with occasional overtime as needed.

• Maintain lighting and security lighting on campus.
• Repair all electrical equipment on the main campus and at remote sites.
• Complete scheduled preventative maintenance.
• Complete daily service request as assigned.
• Installation of new electrical equipment, ballasts, fixtures, and lamps.
• Carry a rotating cellphone for after-hours emergency calls – may be required to work evenings and weekends in an emergency.
• Emergency preparedness and support as directed. Additional duties as assigned.

Florida Tech’s 2025 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.
