We’re looking for a Mechanical Support Specialist for our FLSmidth Service Center in Hibbing, Minnesota which will support our customers in the area.

You’ll be part of the FLSmidth Service Centers network and Pumps, Cyclones and Valves (PCV) team., supporting our products with rebuilds and technical assistance.

Operates automatic and/or manual equipment to process batches of bulk materials/ingredients in accordance with operating procedures. Inspects equipment and its auxiliaries (e.g. apron conveyor, belt conveyors, hydraulic system, all discharge chutes, leakages from gear box or fluid couplings) before starting of equipment.


Responsibilities

• Carries out advanced checks using checklist, prior to starting equipment and for running equipment.
• Responsible for the start-up and operation of equipment (e.g. crusher) machines used in production processes.
• Determines and corrects machine malfunctions of high complexity.
• Oversees clearing of hopper blockages as per the safety procedures.
• Ensures throughput and quality standards are achieved.
• Liaises with key stakeholders in the event of any production stoppages.

• Perform quality work by following instructions and procedures.

• Practice tool management by properly using and caring for tools and equipment.

• Read drawings to complete rebuild jobs.

• Manage warehousing activities keeping parts stock according to the inventory.

• Maintain tools and equipment at the shop in proper condition.

• Support technically FLSmidth products visiting customers in the area.
• Promote a "safety first" culture by active participation at safety toolbox meetings, continuous evaluation of the work site for potential hazards or unsafe actions, use of proper Personal Protective Equipment "PPE" to the site or work to be performed, and reporting near misses/hazards, accidents, or injuries (no matter the severity) and identify unsafe equipment/work per company guidelines.


• Preferred is 5 years of experience performing mechanical construction or mechanical repairs of industrial process equipment.

• Able to perform metal working techniques (grinding; cutting; welding) and alignment methods to efficiently deliver a consistent level of quality.

• Capable of using a computer and software systems (MS-Office, MS-Project, Adobe, and similar).

• Willingness to travel and work with a team of professionals.

• Pump rebuilds experience.

• Ability to prioritize work, coordinate multiple projects, and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong interpersonal, influence, and conflict-resolution skills.
