OtherSafety Coordinator

Forest Hill Church takes caring for the vulnerable that God has entrusted to us seriously because we believe that every person was created in God’s image. Throughout the Bible, God repeatedly and explicitly communicates His heart toward those that are vulnerable, particularly the orphan and the widow.

Forest Hill is looking for someone who embodies this same passion and mirrors God’s heart for safeguarding the minors and vulnerable adults in our care. This 25 hour per week role will have the following primary responsibilities across our 4 church campuses:

  1. Developing the Child Safety Team – Developing and cultivating a team of staff and volunteers across all campuses to prioritize and execute our policies on Sundays and throughout the week
  2. Becoming an expert in our Child Protection Policy as well as staying up to date on best practices
  3. Leading trainings throughout the year for various staff and volunteer gatherings
  4. Operationalizing our policies and procedures
  5. Be a primary liaison for our various ministries as they engage in our policies and procedures
  6. Ensuring events and Sunday gatherings adhere to existing policies with occasional travel to each campus

This part-time role is primarily relational, built on a foundation of strong administration: roughly 60% working with people and 40% managing the systems that keep children safe. The ideal Coordinator does not need to be a stage personality, but should be confident leading a room, approachable one-on-one, and comfortable in hard conversations. Because one person cannot be at four campuses at once, success depends on equipping others and following through on details.

  • Be on-site during Sunday kids and student programming, rotating among campuses to observe check-in process, ratios, and supervision.
  • Serve as the go-to contact for staff, volunteers, and parents with questions about the Child Protection Policy.
  • Review upcoming events, trips, and childcare needs ahead of time to confirm screening, ratios, and permissions are in place.
  • Track volunteer and staff screening and training, and follow up on anything missing or expired before a worker serves.
  • Lead regular Child Safety Team meetings and the annual policy review, and report compliance status to church leadership.
  • A mature follower of Jesus who shares our conviction that protecting the vulnerable reflects God’s heart.
  • Warm and approachable, with the courage to graciously correct or push back when needed.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with strong follow-through.
  • Discreet with sensitive information and calm under pressure.
  • A team builder who equips others rather than trying to do everything alone.
