The Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of loaders during cargo handling operations. This role involves equipment maintenance, spill prevention, and adherence to safety protocols. Operators must ensure proper fueling, fluid checks, and cleanliness of the loader while maintaining clear communication with the Barge Supervisor. Additional duties include participating in maintenance, repairs, and compliance programs.
- Operate the loader safely to prevent injury or equipment damage.
- Perform routine maintenance, fueling, and inspections.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with the team during cargo operations.
- Follow all safety regulations, including spill prevention and compliance with environmental standards.
- Participate in cross-training and adhere to company policies.
- Schedule: 4 days a week, Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts
- Work:
- Maintenance and repairs on lighterage barges
- Training in heavy equipment operation
- Assisting with electrical and hydraulic repairs
- Working with an experienced team
- No work is performed.
- Living Arrangements:
- Stay in modern accommodations with room, board, and high-speed internet included
- Amenities: gym, sauna, game room, pool table, movie room, basketball court
- Schedule: 6 hours on / 6 hours off (weather permitting)
- Work is focused on transporting ore using barges
- Work weeks average ~70 hours
- No work is performed as barges return to Tacoma.
- Work: Prepping barges for winter storage
- No work is performed.
- Must have or be willing to obtain a TWIC card.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and standard operating guidelines.
- Reliable attendance and strong teamwork skills.
- This role requires participation in the Lead Compliance Program with respect to monthly blood testing, fitting and proper utilization of respiratory protection
