Join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of others! We are looking for a Manager of Authorizations for our Finance team.

This is a remote position that requires some travel to our New York location in New Hyde Park, NY. 

  • The Manager of Authorizations leads the Authorizations function within Finance and is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient authorization processes that support service delivery, revenue cycle operations, and cross-functional business needs. 
  • This role manages the Authorizations Team Lead and 8 team members, providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, performance oversight, and accountability to ensure the team meets operational expectations, service-level goals, and quality standards. 
  • The Manager of Authorizations also helps strengthen the function by strengthening workflows, improving processes, establishing metrics, supporting change management, and identifying practical opportunities for automation, efficiency, and scalable team practices. 

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Authorizations function, serving as the primary escalation point for complex authorization issues, payer-related barriers, workflow delays, and cross-functional concerns that may impact timely service delivery. 
  • Leads the continued maturity of the Authorizations function by evaluating current processes, identifying operational gaps, and building scalable workflows, tools, documentation, and team practices that support consistency, accountability, and efficiency. 
  • Drives process improvement and change management initiatives, including defining new workflows, supporting adoption of system or automation enhancements, and ensuring changes are clearly communicated, documented, and reinforced. 
  • Partners with Finance, Operations, Compliance, Technology, and other internal stakeholders to resolve recurring barriers, clarify ownership, align priorities, and improve authorization-related workflows. 
  • Monitors team performance, productivity reporting, service-level expectations, and key operational metrics; uses data to identify trends, prioritize improvements, and inform staffing, workflow, and process decisions. 
  • Builds a culture of accountability by establishing clear expectations, tracking progress against measurable goals, addressing performance gaps, and ensuring team members understand how their work contributes to department outcomes. 
  • Leads, coaches, and develops the Authorizations Team Lead and employees through regular communication, performance feedback, training, and support; reinforces ownership, problem solving, and effective people management practices within the team. 
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce manual work, improve turnaround time, increase accuracy, and create more efficient processes through reporting, technology enhancements, documentation, and automation where appropriate. 
  • Supports hiring, onboarding, training, employee documentation, and performance management processes to ensure the team is prepared to meet role expectations, department standards, and applicable compliance requirements.

At FreedomCare, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides our employees with the opportunity to professionally grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $70,000 and $80,000 per year at the commencement of your first year of employment. Compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors which may include, but are not limited to: skill set, years of relevant experience, education, location, and licensure/certifications.
